Opening hours

Open: Wednesdays to Saturdays, 9am – 1pm.
Closed: Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Public Holidays.

Adult: $5.00
Concession and children under 12: $3.00

Tamworth Powerstation Museum is located at 216 Peel Street, Tamworth.

On-site all-day parking is available. During opening hours, parking is accessible via Darling Street left side of Tamworth Community Centre. Follow this road in (indicated by the blue arrows on the map) to the carpark (indicated by the yellow star on map) at the back of the building. This carpark is also accessible via Peel Street, right side of the Court House Hotel.

Limited 2-hour parking is also available on Peel Street and unlimited parking on Darling Street.

The closest bus stop is Brisbane Street (Adairs). Travel time, including walking from Brisbane Street bus stop to Tamworth Powerstation Museum is approximately 7 minutes.

The Tamworth Powerstation Museum aims to provide an experience which can be enjoyed by all visitors including those with disabilities. The museums collection is wheelchair accessible with the collection displayed on two levels with a small step to be navigated. Accessing the museum site with a wheelchair is via the front entry. The site and building is heritage listed hence the doorways are slightly narrow but are still wheelchair accessible. Our friendly volunteers are able to provide guided tours for the vision or hearing impaired and support visitors as required.

General admission is free to those who hold a Companion Card and are assisting as a carer.

The Tamworth Powerstation Museum is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible experience for all visitors. Assistance animals that are specifically trained and accredited to assist people with disability and support animals registered with council, are welcome to enter the museum.

For the safety of our visitors and the protection of the museum’s collection, other animals, including pets are not permitted entry.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Toilets are located at the back of the Tamworth Powerstation Museum building. Covered walkway leads to the ladies and gents toilets. There is a wheelchair accessible toilet in the ladies and gents toilet.
