From Kable to Edison Cables – New Exhibition
Samples of the world’s first underground electric power cables, manufactured by Edison in New York in 1881 and installed in Brisbane in 1884, were recovered from the Queens Wharf Redevelopment site in 2018, and are now on display at the Powerstation Museum as part of their newest exhibition. Open Day – Steam Engines Running and More!
Celebrate the anniversary of Tamworth as ‘City of Light’ - when this municipality became the first in the Southern Hemisphere to have electric street lighting. Our amazing volunteers have been working hard to assemble new display cabinets generously sponsored by Essential Energy. The UNESCO Australian Memory of the World listed "Veness Letter Book" is the subject of one of the new displays.
